Katie Gibbons attended Waubonsie Valley High School from the fall of 1993 until the spring of 1997. During her four years at the Original Valley, she made the most of her experience as an exceptional student and athlete. As a Volleyball player, Gibbons was a four-year Varsity member. During Gibbons freshman season the Warriors finished 25-7 and earned 2nd place conference finish. Gibbons’ sophomore season she earned All-Conference Unanimous Selection. During Gibbons Junior Year she led the Warriors to a 2nd place conference finish and one of the best overall records in school history. She earned All-Conference, Conference MVP, and All-State Honorable Mention honors. A 15-1 conference record was the outcome of her hard work during her Senior year. She led the team to Conference and Regional championships. Individually, she earned All-Conference Unanimous Selection and All-State honors. Katie was the first All-State Volleyball selection in the program’s history. Following high school, Katie took her gifts and talents to Purdue University where she continued to the play the game that she loved. As a Boilermaker, the highlight of her freshman year was setting the school record for kills by a freshman with 26 kills against Indiana State. After graduating from Purdue, Katie returned to the Naperville area where she is a well-respected and dedicated Elementary School teacher.
