Julia Bond was a four-year varsity member of the girls bowling team at Waubonsie Valley from 2011 –2014. During this time, not only was she the most successful individual bowler in school history, but the teams during this time were just as successful! As an individual Bond was a four (4) time Upstate Eight (UEC) All-Conference member, IHSA Regional Champion (2014), IHSA Sectional Champion (2014), and received IHSA All-State honors twice during her career. In 2013 Bond finished 4th as an individual and in 2014 Julia Bond became the first individual State Champion at WVHS is school history! There has been a total of four perfect 300 games in school history, Julia Bond has two of those games. During the four years that Bond bowled at WVHS, the team never lost a conference match, only losing one game during that stretch. During Bonds four years in the program the school won four (4) UEC Championships, two (2) Illinois high School Association (IHSA) Sectional Championships, and two (2) IHSA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS!! The IHSA implemented Regional Tournaments during the 2014 season, and to no surprise, the Warriors brought the championship back to the ’Original Valley’. The 2013-2014 girls bowling team enjoyed the most successful season in the history of Waubonsie girls bowling. The team won the IHSA State Championship and in doing so became only the second team in IHSA Bowling history to defend their title.After graduation from Waubonsie Valley, Julia Bond took her talents to the University of Nebraska where her success on the bowling lanes continued. Bond wrapped up her senior season as one of the most successful Huskers in Nebraska bowling history with the third best average in a career (210.1) and the seventh best single season in 16-17 (212). As a freshmen, Bond helped Nebraska win their 5th NCAA championship in school history. During Bond’s sophomore season she finished in first place individually at the NCAA Championship with an average of 228.4, helping the team to a second-place national finish. Julia Bond’s other accomplishment included; 3-time NTCA All –American First Team, NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Bowler (2015), two-time NCAA All-Tournament Team. Julia Bond is now competing professionally for the Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA).
