The 2012-2013 Girls Bowling team enjoyed the most successful season in the history of Waubonsie’s girls bowling program, winning the IHSA State Championship by rolling a twelve game score of 12,512. The score was twenty-one pins shy of setting a new state record.During the regular season tournament play, the team won three of six tournaments that they participated in. The team won the Upstate Eight Conference (UEC) title for the 4th straight year with an undefeated record while winning every match and every game. All six players were named to the UEC All-Conference Team.Each player achieved a personal best during the season. Marianna Guerrieri rolled her first career 700 series. Charley Barbary rolled her first career 299 game and won individual honors at two tournaments. Julie Bond rolled her first career 300 game (did it twice) and rolled her first career 800 series. Breanne Cura rolled her first career 700 series and, in the process, rolled 18 consecutive strikes. Rachel Felton won her first individual tournament and had a career high season average of 203. Sara Barsotti placed 7th in the state averaging 217. At the IHSA Sectional tournament, Sara closed 59 of 60 frames. In post season play, the team placed 2nd at the IHSA Sectional tournament and went on to win their first IHSA State Championship. Individual honors went to Julia Bond and Sara Barsotti who were named All-State. They placed 4th and 7th respectively in the State Tournament.
